DANNY TRAN
Hey friends,
I’m Danny Tran, and if you knew me five years ago, you’d find me glued to a monitor, living the standard tech life. all-night debugging sessions and the endless, concrete grind of the city. I was making a living, but my wife and I realized we weren’t really living.
Then, we took a leap of faith. We packed up our lives, waved goodbye to the coding world, and I traded in my keyboard for a career in real estate with Royal LePage Advance Realty here in Campbell River.
Honestly, the biggest reason for the change? The kids.
The Moment the Change Felt Real
The best way I can describe life here is by sharing a small moment. Last Summer, instead of shuffling the kids into a busy indoor playground, we spent the afternoon at Elk Falls. We weren't just at the park, we were exploring it. My youngest pointed up, screaming, "Daddy, look!" And there was an eagle, circling right overhead.
That's the everyday magic of Campbell River. It’s the constant, gentle reminder that we swapped rush-hour traffic for watching a whale breach on a Saturday morning. My kids are growing up with dirt under their fingernails and salt in their hair, and as a parent, that means everything.
More Than Just Houses: It’s the Rhythm of Coastal Life
I work in real estate, so I see the houses and the market numbers every day. But what I sell, what I genuinely believe in, is the lifestyle.
The Unhurried Pace: We used to live by the clock. Here, our day is guided by the tides and the light. It's a community that values presence over productivity. We actually have time for family dinners and evening walks along the waterfront.
The Neighbors Who Know You: Campbell River has that incredible, genuine connection. It's where the lady at the bakery knows your order and your kid's name, and the person you buy fish from might be the same person you run into on a hiking trail. That sense of belonging is a huge comfort for a family that moved across the province.
Fueling the Adventure: Our Favorite Local Eats
When you spend your weekends hiking to suspension bridges and exploring tide pools, you need good fuel. The food scene here is surprisingly vibrant and wonderfully unpretentious.
The Essential Morning Ritual: For me, it starts at The Island Grind. That reliable hit of good coffee and a pastry is the perfect start before a round of showings.
Family Favorites: We live on the "Salmon Capital of the World," so we take full advantage. The simple perfection of the local fish and chips is mandatory. But when Mom and Dad need a break, a casual evening at Beach Fire Brewing for a local pint and some decent pub fare hits the spot every time. They even have board games to keep the kids busy while we relax!
Hidden Gems: We're constantly finding little places. the sushi spot we love, the market with the best local produce. It’s a scene that rewards curiosity.
The Fun: Our Family’s Campbell River Checklist
If you’re thinking about moving here, or just visiting, here are the non-negotiables:
The Elk Falls Suspension Bridge: Seriously, do it. The view alone justifies the move.
A Whale Watching Tour: We try to go once a season. Seeing a humpback breach with your kids is a moment you’ll never forget.
Beachcombing at the Spit: It’s messy, it’s muddy, and it’s where my kids are happiest. Endless treasures wash up here.
Moving to Campbell River wasn't about finding a bigger house, it was about finding a bigger life for our family. It was the best switch I could have ever made.
If you’re considering making your own change, or just curious about the market and the life we have here, reach out. I'm always happy to talk about houses, hiking, and where to grab the best coffee in town.
